Fees

Fees at Green Compliance Plus are determined based on project size (SF), project complexity, and the client’s requirements. For example, an owner might want to qualify for California’s solar home rebates, which requires exceeding Title 24 by 15%. In many instances, both owners and designers have a sincere desire to create the most efficient home possible, and may seek improved performance above and beyond what is legally required.

Comparison to Online Services

What you are getting from us includes knowledge of regulatory and planning requirements, a personalized level of attention to both design and engineering issues, and a better optimized solution. When asked what his Title 24 service provided which couldn’t be purchased online for less, one of our CEPE/CEA colleagues purchased an online Title 24 for comparison and found a cookie-cutter solution: they over-speced the furnace, costing an additional $1250, and also required several onsite inspections that in his case were unnecessary: duct testing, insulation, and verified EER (for equipment), costing an additional $700.

It’s also worth noting that some online services charge by the printed page, too. When we deliver a report to you, by email or even hand delivery, all our work – including discussions with your design team and evaluations of different ways to achieve the same compliance – is included in the base fiee.

Our market is a somewhat specialized niche: architects who care about their designs and who want to achieve real energy efficiency, and owners who want homes that are both beautiful and “green”.

Factors Affecting Fees

Things that may incur additional work and/or fees include the following:

• Ambitious “glass wall” designs that push the limit and require very resourceful and aggressive modeling techniques
• Odd or irregularly shaped glazing surfaces or volumes
• Multiple heating/cooling zones
• Customized window systems or unusual building materials
• Over 3 floors or over 5,000 square feet
• Intricate intermixing of indoor and outdoor spaces that increases the number of surfaces to be modeled
• Expedited turnaround of 3 days or less (available upon request)
• Redesigns not related to compliance
